Ohio Wesleyan Announces August, September 2015 Public Events

DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Wesleyan University today announced its August and September 2015 lineup of public events. Unless otherwise noted, admission is free. Now through Oct. 4 – “Storied Grounds,” an exhibition of photography by Lesley Louden, OWU Class of 1999, in the Alumni Gallery inside Mowry Alumni Center, 16 Rowland Ave., Delaware. Aug. 15 through Oct. 6 – “Forgotten Places,” an exhibition of photography by OWU graduate William JanTausch, Class of 1969, in Gallery 2001 inside Beeghly Library, 43 Rowland Ave., Delaware. An artist’s reception with JanTausch will be held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 17 inside the gallery. Aug. 20 through Sept. 23 – “Howard Little: Coming Home,” an exhibition of paintings by Little, and “Eric Nation: On and Off the Wall,” an exhibition of furniture by Nation, in Richard M. Ross Art Museum, 60 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. Little (1883-1965) was an early California realist landscape painter who captured the essence of the new American frontier. 7 p.m. Sept. 10 – Immaculée Ilibagiza, a survivor of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, discusses her book, “Left to Tell,” in which she recounts her struggle to find meaning and purpose after the horrific violence that killed nearly 1 million Tutsis. Ilibagiza, who hid with seven other women for 91 days inside a 3-foot-by-4-foot bathroom during the violence, will speak in Gray Chapel inside University Hall, 61 S. Sandusky St., Delaware. At 9:30 a.m. Sept. 11, Ilibagiza will speak at St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware. 8 a.m. Sept. 11 – “W” Association’s 13th Annual Golf Outing, at NorthStar Golf Club, 1150 Wilson Road, Sunbury. The four-person scramble supports OWU athletics and includes 18 holes of golf (including cart), use of the driving range, awards, live and silent auction, cookout, and cocktail reception following the outing. 4 p.m. Sept. 17 – Ohio Wesleyan’s Amy Butcher, M.F.A., assistant professor of English, reads from and signs copies of her new book, “Visiting Hours: A Memoir of Friendship and Murder,” in the Bayley Room on the second floor of Beeghly Library, 43 Rowland Ave., Delaware. The book, a nonfiction account of a college friend’s stabbing of his ex-girlfriend, will be available for purchase at the event.
