OWU Connection Experience: Internship with the Education First (EF) Academy in New York City
Tang spent his summer working as an activity leader at EF Academy, a private boarding school serving 13- to 18-year-olds and offering a U.S. high school diploma and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
He also advanced his teaching career ambition in summer 2024, when he worked as an athletics and education summer intern with Eagle Hill School in Hardwick, Massachusetts. There, Tang assisted faculty with planning and structuring lessons and in-class activities, as well as planning and conducting after-class activities, including running and flag football.
Why the EF Experience?
Of his Education First Academy internship, Tang said, "I pursued this opportunity because I am an education major, and I wanted to work with students, especially high schoolers."
Favorite Moments
"My favorite moment of the experience was planning many different activities with the students, and taking them on many different trips around NYC because I really love my hometown."
"[S]ometimes you have to create your own plan instead of going with the original plan that you were given by your manager or supervisor.
Lessons Learned
"One of the most important lessons that I learned was that not everything is going to go according to plan, and sometimes you have to create your own plan instead of going with the original plan that you were given by your manager or supervisor."
Campus Involvements
"I am in the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and I run cross country and track."
Why Ohio Wesleyan?
"Because of the campus size, the professors, and how much OWU gave me."
Plans After Graduation
"My plans after graduation are to go back to NYC and teach history to middle or high schoolers."
