The Parents Leadership Council is a community of parents who are actively engaged in their students’ experiences at OWU. Members share the Ohio Wesleyan Experience by connecting with students and parents, interacting with faculty and staff, and experiencing what makes being a Bishop so special.

Members have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in small group meetings with University leadership and faculty.
  • Attend private receptions for donors.
  • Engage with other parents during Family Weekend, regional receptions, and other special events.
  • Welcome new families, host and attend University events, and advocate for parent philanthropy.
  • Receive invitation to join President for on- and off-campus events through the year.
  • Have networking opportunities with other parent leaders.
  • Receive regular updates sharing highlights of campus life and upcoming events as well as stories of how parent philanthropy impacts the daily experience of our students.
  • Have a direct link to University Advancement staff to answer questions.

As members of the council, parents are asked to:

  • Lead the gift-giving effort by example through contributions to the Parents Fund with an annual commitment of $1,842 or more.
  • Become ambassadors and representatives of the university at educational and social activities for new and prospective parents.
  • Actively assist in identifying, engaging, and attracting support from prospective parent donors, including coordination with senior university leadership, development staff, and volunteers.
  • Contact parents to thank them.
  • Welcome new families to the OWU community and mentor new and current parents
  • Foster relationships with current and prospective parents.
  • Attend meetings two times a year either in person or virtually.
  • Communicate priorities and understanding of the evolving needs and desires of the parent community.
  • Identify and recruit parents to join the Parents Leadership Council.
  • Promote OWU within their spheres of influence.
  • Expand the networks available to OWU students and alumni.

Why We Need Your Support

Financial aid is the key to creating an affordable OWU today, tomorrow, and forever. Your support makes the difference in:

  • Recruiting talented high-need applicants.
  • Meeting the full financial needs of all admitted students.
  • Keeping tuition affordable.
  • Holding down student debt.
  • Maintaining the budget discipline necessary for a sustainable future.

Gifts from OWU parents help maintain the university's position as a leader in higher education, while providing a special vote of confidence in the work being done.

OWU makes every effort to keep the dream of a top-tier college education affordable, particularity during a challenging economic climate. Since tuition cannot fully cover the cost of educating students, private support makes all the difference.
