This is an overview of important items registered student organizations and advisors and need to complete, review, and establish during the fall semester.
Review and update the organization's constitution and bylaws
Mark important dates on the calendar (Student Involvement Fair, OWU Summit, supplemental funding and fall budget deadlines, Golden Bishop Awards, last day for registered events)
Connect with your advisor and establish expectations for the upcoming spring.
Prepare and register for the spring Student Involvement Fair: Tuesday, February 3 in the Benes Rooms. Registration opens January 14 on Engage - spots are limited to 50 organizations.
Ensure at least 2 members are registered for the OWU Summit on February 19. Each registered student organization must attend. Registration opens January 14 on Engage.
Establish spring meeting times and locations
Review the goals, events, and spring plans for the organization
Be familiar with Student Involvement Office location and staff

Review procedures and policies for student organizations
Apply for a Golden Bishop Award
Prepare a fall 2026 budget
Ensure the organization member attends the budget training
Review previous year's budgets to see how much money was requested and how much was allocated
Work with the treasurer to submit the budget on Engage
Discuss any fundraising ideas to make up any gaps in funding allocation
Prepare for the transition of officers
Meet 1:1 with the new president and any other officers
Schedule a time for the outgoing and incoming executive boards to meet
Consider scheduling the first executive board and/or general body meeting for the following semester
Schedule time to review institutional processes related to tasks such as accounting, purchasing, reserving space, ordering food, etc.
Give new officers access to any systems or documents located online (e.g. Engage, Google Drive)
