The Office of the Provost is excited to announce a new diploma process that provides graduating seniors with both a printed Ohio Wesleyan diploma as well as a new digital diploma. Increasingly, employers require that applicants provide a digital copy of their diploma in addition to their official, degree-posted transcript. Providing a digital diploma is of tremendous value to our graduates to help launch their post-graduate pursuits.

During the Commencement Ceremony, graduating seniors will receive their commemorative Ohio Wesleyan University diploma cover as they cross the stage. At a later date, diplomas in printed and digital format will be sent to the graduates' home address on file. The practice of sending diplomas after graduation is the most common for colleges and universities nationally since it allows for the greatest accuracy related to graduation requirements as well as more flexibility for students to receive the diploma two ways. Students were notified of the change earlier this semester. OWU's Office of the Registrar will work closely with each graduate to ensure this diploma delivery process runs smoothly.

Furthermore, this change grants students greater flexibility during Commencement, enabling them to sit in the order they wish rather than in alphabetical order. We anticipate students will love this new flexible seating arrangement; however, parents and families will need to communicate with their graduating seniors and keep an eye out for when they are approaching the stage. The student's name and Latin award (if applicable) will be read as they cross the stage.

Additional details and instructions will be posted on this page in the coming days. If you have diploma or credential-related questions, please contact registrar@owu.edu for assistance.
