‘I Will Always Have a Home Here’

One on One with Senior Hannah Simpson

Hannah Simpson ’16 is taking over the “ohiowesleyan” Snapchat account starting April 17.

A member of Pitch Black and a campus tour guide, Simpson is also involved with Theta Alpha Phi, Delta Zeta, and the Theatre & Dance Student Board.

She participated in a Travel-Learning Course in 2013, visiting England’s Globe Theatre, the most famous of Shakespeare's playhouses.

After graduating, Simpson will compete this May in the National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) National Awards Competition for Musical Theatre.

Simpson, a familiar face to many on OWU’s campus, took a break from her busy schedule to answer a few questions.

Majors: Theatre and English

Minor: Women's and Gender Studies

Favorite place on campus: Chappelear Drama Center

What are you most proud of at OWU: Doing "Arcadia," the fall play, and my senior theatre capstone project in performance at the same time!

One goal you hope to accomplish in your lifetime: I've always wanted to be in the musical, "Les Miserables" – not even as a principle role, just in the chorus. They probably have the most fun, anyway!

Describe yourself in 3 words: Bubbly, optimistic, theatrical.

Advice to the Class of 2020: Sleep. It's underrated.

What you plan to share on Snapchat:  Pitch Black rehearsal, campus tours, DZs hanging out, classes, maybe even a selfie with President Rock Jones or some professors…

Favorite faculty member & why: I'm breaking the rules and picking two because I can't choose. Dr. Bonnie Milne Gardner (Theatre) because she's my advisor and one of the most fun directors I have ever worked with and Dr. Zack Long (English) because he's my unofficial advisor and he points out the best jokes, puns, wordplay in Shakespeare.

What you love about OWU: Knowing that I will always have a home here

Fun Fact: I'm a legacy (Ellen Simpson '77), which is pretty cool.
