'Oh to Be Pure Again'
Ohio Wesleyan Performing Arts to Present the Recently Published Play Oct. 29-Nov. 1
DELAWARE, Ohio – In a world that lives in binaries and absolutes, five teenage campers and a pair of camp counselors step into a 2010 Christian summer camp to find their way through a faith of connection and divine mystery.
Kira Rockwell's play "oh to be pure again" interrogates purity culture, celebrates the holy ground of community, and asks how we can release the things that harm us without losing those that nourish us along the way.
Ohio Wesleyan University presents four showings of "oh to be pure again" at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29-31 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 1 on the Main Stage of Chappelear Drama Center, 45 Rowland Ave., Delaware. The play is recommended for those ages 14 and older. Tickets are $10 for community members under 65, $5 for senior citizens, and free for OWU students and employees. They can be purchased or reserved at owuperformingarts.ludus.com.
The play is directed by OWU assistant professor Lusie Cuskey, Ph.D., and includes costume design by OWU costume shop manager Jaylene Jennings, scenic design by OWU technical director Carrie Hurst, and intimacy choreography by Atlanta artist Bridget McCarthy.
