Registration Begins Feb. 20, Classes March 27 for Spring Session of Ohio Wesleyan’s Lifelong Learning Institute

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) at Ohio Wesleyan University is offering 11 courses this spring, with topics ranging from examining the film studios behind the stars, ragtime literature, an armchair history of Delaware County, putting sustainability into practice, and an immersive experience with the Central Ohio Symphony.

For their $75 registration fee, individuals 55 and older are able to sign up for as many courses as they wish during the spring session, which runs from March 27 through May 5 for most classes.

The multi-week classes are taught by volunteers, including current and retired Ohio Wesleyan professors and other experts in a non-competitive environment. All classes will be held in person unless otherwise noted. Scheduled spring classes are:

  • Studios Behind the Stars – James Dean and Marilyn Monroe
  • Sustainability in Practice: OWU and Delaware
  • Is America Facing a Mental Health Crisis?
  • An Armchair Tour of Delaware County History
  • LLI Potpourri, featuring single-topic sessions including:
    • Songs that Abraham Lincoln Loved
    • The American Dunkirk: How People Trapped in Manhattan Got Off the Island on 9/11
    • Title IX – 50 Years of Progress
    • Death as a Part of Life: Living Mindful of Mortality
    • Fine Arts Graduating Seniors Exhibition
    • The Art of Remembrance, Memorialization and Tragedy
    • 1973: The Year of Shocks and the Age of Limits
  • A Musical Immersion with the Central Ohio Symphony
  • Delaware County: The Dynamics of Rapid Growth
  • Reading Ragtime – American Literature, History and Culture
  • Science Meets the Paranormal (online only)
  • A Matter of Balance

Online, mail, and telephone registration for spring session opens Feb. 20 and runs through March 20. The LLI is able to offer a limited number of $50 scholarships for the spring session. Scholarship applications are due by March 8.
