OWU Students to Take Over University Account to Feature Daily Life, Mock Convention

This week, Ohio Wesleyan University junior Nicole Sanczyk and senior Emily Feldmesser will share their OWU experiences via Snapchat.

“I love the relationships I’ve made here,” says Sanczyk, reflecting on her favorite things about OWU. She also is proud to be an OWU legacy student.

Sanczyk is excited to snap to “show people how amazing OWU is, and how much this campus has to offer.”

As a sports management major, she hopes “to be a successful woman in the sports industry” after graduation.  She currently is a member of the lacrosse team and an intern in the Office of University Communications.

Her favorite place on campus is the newly renovated Merrick hall, especially the outdoor patio during warm, sunny weather.

Sanczyk is the second of several OWU students scheduled to share their unique “My Story” on Snapchat. Senior Julia Stone kicked off the series of takeovers last week, featuring everything from hanging out in Hamilton-Williams Campus Center during lunch, to visiting Columbus’s Short North arts district, to sharing what it’s like in French Class.

On Feb. 5, Feldmesser will cover OWU’s 2016 Republican Mock Presidential Convention.

The event mimics a national presidential convention, including platform debates and a vote to determine presidential and vice presidential candidates for the fall ballot. Because OWU’s event traditionally features the party out of the White House, this year’s Mock Convention will focus on the Republican race. The theme of the convention is “Back on the Right Track.”

Feldmesser, who is studying international studies and journalism, is the senior director for public relations and publications on the convention leadership team and will serve as a member of the Maryland delegation.

She hopes to have a career in political communications or journalism, and says her favorite part of OWU is "The opportunities it has provided me, including Wesleyan in Washington.”
