College is a time of incredible opportunity and the IFC community at Ohio Wesleyan University is your pathway to maximize your experience. We are a brotherhood dedicated to providing collegians with the resources, connections and challenges necessary to excel both on campus and after graduation.
Ohio Wesleyan IFC utilizes a 365 Continuous Recruitment model, meaning the opportunity to join is available any time during the academic year. This flexible process allows you to connect with chapters on your own timeline, ensuring that you find the best fit for your personal growth and collegiate journey.
Step 1: Complete the grade release form on Engage. All potential new members interested in IFC membership must hold a collegiate GPA of at least 2.0. Some chapters may have specific, higher GPA requirements for membership.
Step 2: Connect with the fraternities. Meet organizations at events like "Meet the Greeks" or the Student Involvement Fair. You can also contact them directly at their social media sites:
First-year students have the ability to join an IFC organization during the spring semester, marking our "Primary" recruitment season. Review the following timeline for important dates:
| Date | Event | Location |
| January 14th | Grade Release Form opens | On Engage |
| February 5th | Bid Handouts | On Campus |
| February 9th | Bid Signing | Fraternity Houses |
| February 9th | All Member Dinner | HWCC Benes Rooms |
| February 10th | 365 Bidding Continues | |
Step 3: Accept a bid! A bid is a formal invitation extended by an individual chapter, inviting a potential new member to join their organization and begin the new member education process.
Step 4: Complete the new member process for your chosen organization.
Individuals who complete the new member process are eligible to live in the fraternity houses the semester following initiation. Review more information here.
All national fraternal organizations pay semesterly dues. New member dues will be charged the first semester of joining an organization and are typically more expensive than the active member dues. The first semester includes one-time fees (e.g., National Registration, Badge Fee) required during the new member period.
OWU Interfraternity Council is committed to providing a hazing-free membership experience. Hazing is illegal, violates university policy and is strictly prohibited in any form before, during or after the new member process. Review OWU's Anti-Hazing policy here.
