Pre-Departure Preparation, Risk Management, and Insurance

All OWU international travel is supported by EIIA International travel insurance and Healix International Risk Management. Information regarding insurance and risk will be reviewed with each traveler and travel leads for group travel prior to departure.

Students in international courses must complete two mandatory online training modules: Pre-Departure Essentials and Cross-Cultural Essentials. 

The OWU-Connection / IOCP Office offers additional resources to help you prepare for your trip. Mentors are available in Slocum Hall 311 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. We also hold programs like "Identities Abroad" which are advertised in the OWU Daily.

We encourage all students to practice ethical and sustainable travel. Consider how you can engage with your host culture and minimize your environmental impact. A good place to start for ideas is Ethical Traveler and Sustainable Travel.
