Ohio Wesleyan Scholarship Competition

In recognition of your exceptional academic achievements, you are invited to join us to compete for the Schubert (Full-Tuition) and Wesleyan (up to $8,000) Scholarships.*

*THE WESLEYAN SCHOLARSHIP, IF AWARDED, WOULD BE IN ADDITION TO THE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP YOU HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED. THE SCHUBERT SCHOLARSHIP WOULD REPLACE YOUR PREVIOUSLY AWARDED SCHOLARSHIP.

OWU Scholarship Competitions

• THE COMPETITION
  • Three competition dates are available to choose from
    • Two are held in-person
    • One is held virtually for those who cannot attend in-person
  • You do not need to have paid your OWU enrollment fee to OWU to participate in the competition
  • The competition consists of an essay writing assignment and a group discussion
    • The essay writing assignment will be provided about a week before your scheduled event date (via email)
    • There is nothing to prepare for ahead of time
  • The group discussion will take place on the event date consisting of five to eight prospective students and one to three faculty/staff members
  • Other sessions and activities will be offered on the event date for when you are not in your group discussion
    • Parents/family are invited and welcome to attend and participate in all sessions being offered (excluding the group discussion)

• THE RESULTS
  • The following will be used to determine which students are awarded the scholarships:
    • Your submitted competition essay
    • The feedback from the group discussion
    • Admission application materials submitted prior to the event 
  • Scholarship winners will be notified mid- to late- Febraury 2024.
  • All other participants who completed the essay and the group discussion will receive a minimum $1,000 additional award (stackable and renewable for four years!)
