The Bishop Backers seek to connect the community with events held on the Ohio Wesleyan University campus, build a volunteer network for future events, identify opportunities for OWU students to provide service, and encourage Delaware County students to consider Ohio Wesleyan as their college of choice. 

Every winter, the Bishop Backers seeks to host Winter Community Day with free admission to the Ohio Wesleyan men's and women's basketball doubleheader with a monetary or canned food donation to benefit the Delaware County Hunger Alliance.

The event typically includes a YMCA children's play area, a visit from Columbus Zoo animals, a chance to meet OWU athletes, and a Delaware Expo showcasing local community service organizations, restaurants, and businesses. It's a perfect way to connect with the OWU and Delaware communities, share information, find volunteers, and promote your business.

Event registration (including a provided 8-foot table and two chairs) is free for nonprofit organizations. (If the nonprofits are able, they are invited to collect food at their locations in advance to contribute to the food drive.)

Registration for for-profit businesses (including a provided 8-foot table and two chairs) is $25 if paid at the time of registration or $30 (cash only) on the day of the event. Make checks payable to Ohio Wesleyan University Bishop Backers and mail to:

Participants are responsible for providing all elements of their exhibit (product displays, tablecloths, extension cords, coupons, giveaways, and other marketing materials). Participants also will be responsible for setting up and taking down their exhibits. Set-up will begin at 11 a.m. and tear-down will begin no earlier than 3 p.m. Alcohol is prohibited.
