About

Ali Alkhalifa (he/him or they/them) is the Education Program Specialist for the Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department at Ohio State and part-time instructor at Ohio Wesleyan. Ali's research specialities include critical gender and sexuality studies, feminist media studies, archival research, and reality television studies. His passion for feminist media analysis is grounded in his genuine appreciation for art labeled "low-brow" or kitsch; belief that all representations are deserving of active, analytical engagement; and desire to unpack how the quotidian–however fabricated–is constructed through the melodrama of reality television and its perceived "realness."

Prior to teaching with OWU, Ali had the immense privilege of being advised by Dr. Linda Mizejewski, assisting him in the development of both a Senior Thesis ("Euphoria: High Highs and Low Lows") and a Master's Thesis entitled "RuPaul's Drag Race's Canceling Culture & the Digital Disposability of its Disrespectable, Non-Homonormative Subjects."

Outside of work and research, Ali loves to practice comedy, perform improv, bake desserts, play old school video games, and thrift for vintage clothing.
