Ohio Wesleyan University does not have a policy that surveys conducted at the institution be approved by or distributed through The Office of Institutional Effectiveness. However, OIE does appreciate being informed of research involving faculty, staff, or students, as it may benefit our internal or external reporting or impact our office's survey planning. Likewise, OIE may have already collected data that may be beneficial to answering your research questions.
In July 2021, Ohio Wesleyan University obtained an institutional license for all members of the OWU community (students, faculty, staff) to utilize Qualtrics XM, one of the leading feature-rich survey development tools used in social science research as well as brand and customer experience management. Ohio Wesleyan University is a member of the HEDS Consortium. HEDS institutions can participate in some surveys at no cost and others at a discounted rate, while non-member institutions pay 3-4 times what member institutions pay for any survey. Surveys can be administered during a 3-6 week window within the timeframe specified in the 2025-2026 HEDS Survey Schedule, but note that these dates are for the 2024-2025 academic year and are subject to change in the future.
During each term at OWU, different offices administer surveys to the community researching topics like campus climate, sexual assault, health and wellness, course evaluations and others. This section provides a timeline for the distribution of those surveys during the year.
