Campers enjoy receiving mail during their stay! You can opt to purchase an email package during registration. These emails will be printed daily and delivered as "mail" to your camper.
Important Note: Recently, there have been significant delays in receiving U.S. Postal Mail. Unfortunately, this has caused much of the camper mail to arrive after campers have returned home. Due to the large volume of late-arriving mail in 2024, we are no longer able to cover postage costs for forwarding mail after camp.
If you choose to send mail via the postal service, please ensure "OWL Camp" is included on the envelope or package. Use the following format for addressing:

In Ohio, a gifted student is defined as one who: "Performs or shows potential for performing at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared to others of their age, experience, or environment." — Ohio Revised Code §3324.01
These students may have learning needs that differ from the standard curriculum. Giftedness can appear at any grade level and in a wide range of areas. The goal of identification is to recognize these students so that, when needed, their educational experience can be adjusted to better match their strengths.
Areas of Gifted Identification - Students may be formally identified as gifted in one or more of the following categories:
- Superior Cognitive Ability
- Specific Academic Ability (Mathematics, Reading, Writing, Science, or Social Studies)
- Creative Thinking Ability
- Visual or Performing Arts Ability (Including dance, drama, music, and visual arts)
How Are Students Identified? - Ohio uses specific criteria to determine giftedness. A student may qualify through one or more of the following pathways:
Superior Cognitive Ability
- Scores two standard deviations above the mean (minus the standard error of measurement) on an approved intelligence test
- Or scores at or above the 95th percentile on a nationally normed composite achievement test
- Or earns a qualifying score on an approved above-grade-level test
Specific Academic Ability
- Scores at or above the 95th percentile in a specific academic field (e.g., math, reading) on a nationally normed achievement test
- Students may be identified in more than one academic area
Creative Thinking Ability
- Scores one standard deviation above the mean (minus the standard error of measurement) on an approved intelligence test
- And earns a qualifying score on a checklist of creative behaviors or a creativity test
Visual or Performing Arts Ability
- Demonstrates superior ability through a performance, audition, or display of work
- And earns a qualifying score on a checklist of behaviors related to the arts
A Permanent Designation - Once a student is identified as gifted in Ohio, that designation is permanent. This ensures that their strengths are recognized and supported throughout their educational journey.
