Apply to Be a Family Group Leader

OWL Camp Family Group Leaders (formerly counselors) are what set us apart from other camps. Be a part of an amazing staff of people who make an impact on and difference in the lives of over 500 campers this summer! Family Group Leaders are carefully selected to represent the interests and experiences of the campers. Many of our Family Group Leaders in the summer program each year are former OWL campers.

We are aware that some may be trying to get their internships for the summer. However, if being an OWL Family Group Leader would be a alternate option for you, please go ahead and submit your application. You can always withdraw your application or decline the position at a later date.

Please be sure you are prepared when you start the application process, as you will not be able to go back and change any information once submitted.

How to Apply: Starting November 1st, 2025, applicants may submit their Family Group Leader Application online by visiting this link. Applicants may choose to be considered for Overnight Camp, Day Camp, or both. Interviews will be held on a rolling basis, with final decisions shared by April 1st, 2026.

All applications received on or before April 1st will be considered for interviews. Applications received after the deadline will be placed on the family group leader wait list and will only be considered if additional positions become available.

A complete application for a new family group leader applicant include:

• A completed new family group leader application
• A current resume including information about experience working with teenagers or children as well as other work, camp, and leadership experience. Specify pertinent certifications in areas of CPR, Life Saving, and Water Safety Instructor,  including expiration dates.
• Two family group leader reference forms provided by individuals other than family members. Here is a google form for them to complete: Family Group Leader Recommendation Form.
