About

Heather Grunkemeyer joined the Ohio Wesleyan community in August 2000, after receiving her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from The Ohio State University under the direction of Terry Gustafson. She received her B.A. in ACS Chemistry from Gustavus Adolphus College.

Grunkemeyer teaches General Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Instrumental Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and an Advanced Topics seminar in Forensics.

As a graduate student, Grunkemeyer studied the early energy transfer pathways in photosynthetic systems. Her current research interests include designing optical sensors for water contaminants and studying the fluorescent properties of ink, which could have forensic implications.
