"My goal as the professor is to be the person who assists students transform from an art novice to a well rounded professional who understands the links between research and theory, innovation and creation. From my experience in working with students, there is no prescribed formula for success; it is the work that constantly evolves. Sometimes this work brings on the challenges that are difficult and may even seem impossible to overcome. Once, in a studio class discussion a student questioned the possibility of executing an assignment. I spontaneously said: 'Impossible is only determined by the physicality of our existence." As an artist, and studio art educator I am drawn to the continuous challenge of the 'impossible.'"
