Minimum Undergraduate Courses Needed

  • Six semester credit hours of English
  • Six semester credit hours of Behavioral Science
  • Four semester credit hours of Physics (including a lab)
  • Eight semester credit hours of Biology (including two labs)
  • Eight semester credit hours of Inorganic Chemistry (including two labs)
  • Eight semester credit hours of Organic Chemistry (including two labs)
  • Three semester credit hours of Biochemistry (may be used in place of second Organic Chemistry course and lab)
  • Three semester credit hours of Genetics

Notes

  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP) may not be used to satisfy any of the minimum requirements.
  • No grade lower than “C” will be accepted.
  • Credit for pass/fail courses will not be accepted.
  • LECOM will accept only AP credits for the English and Behavioral Science courses and only if the student scores a four or five on the AP exam. A replacement course of equal or greater credit hours applicable to the field of medicine or a course of similar academic rigor, if approved by the Phase I advisor, must be taken at Ohio Wesleyan.

To use the AIS table locate the intersection of the SAT (Math + Critical Reading) score or ACT composite score with the GPA.

  • For Phase I, use unweighted high school GPA
  • For Phase II, use Cumulative Overall Undergraduate GPA

The following formula is used to convert a percentage grade to a GPA:

GPA = ((% Grade) / 20) - 1
