OWU’s Mock Convention is one of the oldest political simulations in the country.  A “once in an OWU lifetime” experience, it brings together students, faculty, staff, alumni, elected officials, and community members (all with a variety of different beliefs and interests) to debate a party platform and nominate candidates for whichever political party currently not in control of the Presidency.  Mock Convention is a unique student-led experience that allows the OWU community to embody the role of a partisan from a state or political identity other than their own. It is a great way to consider multiple perspectives and their effect on our political choices.  Join us as we talk about OWU’s Mock Convention, lead a roundtable discussion on highlights from the Republican Presidential Debates that happened on August 27, 2023, and predict what could happen during the 2024 election cycle.
