At the very founding of Ohio Wesleyan, a promise was made that the transformative benefits of an Ohio Wesleyan education would be available to all worthy students, regardless of a student’s ability to pay. Endowed scholarship provide perpetual support that keeps this promise alive – now and in the future.
Each year OWU awards endowed scholarships, made possible through the generosity of hundreds of individuals, families, and organizations.

Financial Aid Awarding & Eligibility

If you are a recipient of an Ohio Wesleyan Grant and/or Ohio Wesleyan Merit Scholarship, the Office of Financial Aid may match you to an endowed scholarship.  Especially meaningful, these scholarships are established by individuals who care deeply about OWU and its students. Some donors are OWU alumni, who were themselves the beneficiaries of financial aid.

Please note:

  • A named endowed scholarship does not change the total amount of financial aid awarded; rather, endowed scholarships are university resources that fulfill a portion of the university-sponsored grant funding awarded to the student.
  • Scholarships are awarded to students who meet the criteria specific to each fund.
  • All applicants for financial aid are automatically considered for scholarships for which they meet the established criteria. There is no separate application process.

Students who are matched to an endowed scholarship will receive an email notification that a revised financial aid package is ready to view on NetPartner, located at

Information for Endowed Scholarship Recipients

If you are matched to an endowed scholarship, the Office of Donor Relations will contact you with more information on the scholarship and the scholarship donor.  Since donors welcome the opportunity to meet or correspond with the students who receive their awards, you may be asked to write a note of appreciation to the donor or participate in a donor recognition event.

Each fall, Ohio Wesleyan President Rock Jones, hosts a Celebration of Donors and Scholars Brunch, which brings together scholarship benefactors and their student recipients. Next year's Celebration of Donors and Scholars Brunch will take place during the fall semester. If your scholarship donors are attending the event, we will send you an invitation with additional information.
