About

Caio Batista de Melo joined the Math & CS Department in 2026. He enjoys teaching all levels of computer science, with a particular soft spot for introductory and systems courses. His research lies at the intersection of computing systems and software engineering; he focuses on the correctness of cyber-physical systems, studying how we can enable them to detect and react to unexpected situations while managing resources and interacting with the physical world. He is also interested in computing education and has developed and implemented various educational tools to support his courses. Before joining OWU, he spent three years as an Assistant Teaching Professor at NC State, where he taught and designed various courses.
