What's Going On? Understanding the Economic, Environmental, and Political Impact of Data Centers
3-3:45 p.m.
LOCATION: Merrick Hall 301

Did you know that Ohio has more than 200 data centers? Recently, data centers have become a political flashpoint--one of the few issues that seems to anger both Republicans and Democrats. But what is a data center? Why are there so many of them? How is the growth of data centers affecting communities like Delaware, OH? Do data centers really make electricity more expensive? What about the environmental costs? Join a panel of faculty from Economics, Computer Science, Politics and Government, and Environment and Sustainability to learn more about how data centers are impacting our everyday lives (and may upend the fall elections!).

What's Going On? is a recurring series that offers opportunities for OWU faculty, staff, and students to learn more about current events and discuss them in a respectful, non-partisan environment.
