Campus Food Truck Guidelines
These guidelines ensure that food truck use on campus is approved and coordinated in advance to comply with fire safety requirements and Ohio Wesleyan University's Catering Policy. Event hosts are encouraged to obtain approval from Residential Life & Dining Services before coordinating with the Department of Public Safety. However, both processes may overlap. All necessary approvals and arrangements must be completed before the event.
Catering Policy and Approval
Any use of food trucks on campus must be approved by Residential Life & Dining Services. You can review our dining policies here, which includes the processes to follow to request an exemption to our catering and dining policies.
Coordination With Public Safety & Fire Safety Requirements

Student Organization Events: The hosting University Organization must coordinate directly with the Department of Public Safety at least seven (7) business days in advance of the event to determine and obtain approval for the truck's location.

First-Time Departmental Events: The hosting University department must coordinate directly with the Department of Public Safety at least seven (7) business days in advance of the event for the Department of Public Safety to determine an appropriate location for the food truck.

Annual Departmental Events: If no physical changes have been made to a previously approved venue, AND the number of Food Trucks is consistent with previously hosted events, hosting departments need only make the Department of Public Safety aware that the event is being hosted.

Fire Inspection Notification: The Public Safety Department will ensure that the Delaware City Fire Department (DFD) is formally notified of the event so they can perform an on-site fire safety inspection before the event begins. The inspection will generally occur within 30 minutes prior to the event.
