Internship placements are available in scores of settings, and we work with you to provide several options from which you can choose an internship that best suits your immediate and long-term interests. We do not place you in just any internship; we facilitate experiences that bring your particular skills to the right workplace. Ohio Wesleyan University students have interned at the White House, for the Speaker of the House of Representatives, throughout Congress, and in many governmental agencies, private sector business and legal firms, non-profit advocacy organizations, the media, and think tanks.

Interns serve different functions in different settings. To be a successful intern, you must show your workplace what you can bring to it, as well as what you can take from the experience. Interns provide an important service in Washington, and, when well-placed, frequently are called upon to perform significant roles. The Wesleyan in Washington program also assists you in building a framework of activities outside the internship office experience, helping to secure your participation in important conferences, public events, and other opportunities that arise during the semester. Before you go to Washington, you will meet frequently with the Arneson staff to discuss skills and strategies for success that ensure you derive the most satisfaction from the broader living experience.
