Ohio Wesleyan University will provide the opportunity for a limited number of OWU students to spend ten weeks working on a research and/or scholarly project on campus with a faculty mentor this summer. Brief descriptions of the projects will be available to students starting February 4, 2026. If you are interested in applying, you are strongly encouraged to discuss your interest with the project mentor to whom you are applying because they will be a part of the evaluation process. The typical 10-week summer experience begins May 11, 2026, and concludes July 17, 2026, and includes a $4,600 stipend. Campus housing is available to SSRP students. A poster presentation at the Patricia Belt Conrades Summer Scholarship and Research Symposium during the Fall 2026 OWU Connection Conference describing the research is required.
Preference is given to current sophomores and juniors, although current first-year students may apply. Students who will graduate in May of 2026 are not eligible for the SSRP. Students may only participate in the SSRP once during their time at OWU. Each project has additional specific course/experience qualifications and students should check with the faculty mentor about these qualifications prior to submitting their applications. Rarely are students with a GPA below 3.0 placed in the program.
You will receive the selection committee's decision (first round) by 5:00 PM on March 27, 2026. If accepted, you must confirm your participation by 5:00 PM on April 6, 2026. If required, we will notify alternate selections by 5:00 PM on April 9, 2026.
