A Message From President Rock Jones

Welcome to the Spring 2021 term of the Lifelong Learning Institute of Ohio Wesleyan University. Like so many other organizations and programs, the Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) made the move last fall to a virtual format for our classes which will continue this spring. A big thank you goes to all of you who made that move from in-person to online – we’ve all learned so much in the process.

This spring term offers an exciting roster of classes across a variety of topics with presenters eager to share their knowledge and insights with you. There are many opportunities for discovery, learning, and making connections with others in the community. Modeled after similar programs at other campuses across the country and taught by volunteers - practitioners, professors and others, the LLI serves those 55 and older.

The volunteer LLI Steering Committee composed of community and university representatives continue to seek your input on possible future topics and presenters. My gratitude goes to these committee members, the dedicated presenters who volunteer their time and expertise and all of you who have responded to the LLI. I also want to thank the Delaware County Foundation and SourcePoint who have supported the LLI.

We hope to see you in March!

What is the Lifelong Learning Institute of OWU?

The Lifelong Learning Institute of Ohio Wesleyan University recognizes that learning throughout one’s life is an important pursuit in acquiring knowledge and skills, examining new ideas and fueling one’s curiosity among many other benefits. Ohio Wesleyan promotes and provides, in collaboration with other community organizations, a variety of educational programs using peer learning concepts, to benefit intellectually curious older adults.

LLI courses are non-credit-bearing and are offered in a collaborative, inclusive style to encourage participation, peer learning, and engagement with the material.

Term Information

The first term of the LLI of OWU successfully launched in fall of 2019, featuring a variety of courses and presenters. LLI courses were held on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan, as well as at other Delaware locations. While classes are now offered online due to COVID-19, we all look forward when the LLI can return to in-person classes.
