Spring 2024 Move-Out Information is now available! A complete overview of the process, including all the information you need to properly move out and check out of your room/suite is available here:
This document gives you specific details on all the information you need to properly check out of your current housing assignment including dates, procedures, and answers to your most frequently asked questions.
Students must check out after removing all personal belongings, and after cleaning the room. More details about cleaning are offered in Section C. Failure to check out with your Resident Advisor will result in a $25 fine. Each individual student is responsible for their own check-out procedures. Do not assign your responsibilities to a friend, hall staff member, or Housekeeping personnel. If you don't turn in your key upon checkout, there is a $200 charge for the cost of new keys and the re-coring of the lock on the door.
Checkout Process
All students are required to checkout with a Residential Life staff member. We are not using the express checkout process during the end-of-year move out.
You can understand the cleaning expectations by reviewing the Spring 2024 Move-Out Guide.
You can review the timeline for Spring 2024 Move-Out by visiting the Residential Life Important Dates site or by reviewing the Spring 2024 Move-Out Guide.
If you are leaving campus before our centralized checkout process begins on Sunday, May 5 at 9am, please connect with your RA or Moderator for assistance.
If you have extenuating circumstances that necessitate a request to remain on campus after the facilities close, please email reslife@owu.edu. Because we are preparing for summer projects, summer housing, alumni weekend, and summer conferences, we will be limited in what we can approve and not. If you are requesting to stay past Commencement, please note that you will be expected to complete the summer housing application and contract, then move to our summer housing facility. Note that there are associated fees for summer housing. The deadline for all requests is Friday, April 19.
We are pleased to make it easy for students to donate their gently used items or other things that they would rather not take home with them rather than sending them to a landfill. Students may donate items at the portable storage units that will be located near bulk dumpsters in the residential parking areas. Items will be donated to the local Goodwill store in Delaware. As a part of our May Move-Out initiative, students are reminded that anything that they brought into their residence should be taken home, donated at the portable storage units, or disposed of in the dumpsters provided. The May Move-Out pods will be located near dumpsters on the residential side of campus.
There is no storage available on campus for student belongings. There are local storage facilities available for reasonable summer rates. Public Safety also stores bicycles on campus over the summer.
