Technical Training Sessions

All of the sessions below will be offered in Corns 109 (unless otherwise noted), and led by our Instructional Technologist, David Soliday, unless noted otherwise. Workshops include lunch for all who register by the evening before the event. Information Services also provides customized group instruction and individual training upon request.

Stay composed--a fresh, updated interface for OWU BishopApps Mail on the web is here. Do more without leaving your Inbox: the new view helps you get more done by presenting action buttons--like Mark as Read--and attachment links in the Inbox view. You can also hide the folder list to give you more room to work with your mail.

Google Course Kit in Blackboard Learn

Course Kit allows educators to use BishopApps tools, like Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive, within Blackboard Learn without disrupting classroom management or work flows. Course Kit features a built-in grading tool that allows you to manage all feedback in one central place. Best of all, it supports the single document, cloud-based platform, without any downloading, uploading, or converting files.

Examity Test Proctoring in Blackboard

Examity online proctoring, used in summer online courses, is available for traditional semester courses as well--whether or not you're using Blackboard for the course. It increases the efficiency, security, and convenience of online testing by verifiing student identity and and observing them taking the test while also recording the video, thus preventing cheating. This service may be used as an alternative to the Testing Center for students with accommodations or otherwise unable to take a test in class.

Google Drive File Stream and Team Drives

Come learn about Google Team Drives--shared spaces where your teams can easily store, search, and access their files anywhere, from any device. Team Drive files belong to the team instead of an individual. Even if members leave, the files stay exactly where they are so your team can continue to share information and work. And then Google Drive File Stream allows you to access all your Drive files from your computer, as if they were actually ON your computer.

Google Forms

Forms, part of our OWU BishopApps suite of online collaboration tools, is easy to use for web forms and online surveys or quizzes. You can use an OWU logo or your own image, choose from a bunch of question types with page branching or question skip logic. It's responsive, so it works well on your mobile devices. Responses are neatly and automatically organized into summary charts and graphs. Come and learn how to use it alone or with collaborators.

Introducing Degree Audit, our online degree planning and audit system. Students and advisors may use it for individual degree audits, “what if?” scenarios, and student planning. This session will introduce its basics and answer other questions you may have about it.
