At the end of each year, the psychology faculty have the happy duty of giving out our department awards. Below is a list of the departmental awards, along with the criteria for each, and a sample of the recent winners. Harry Bahrick Professional Development Award is presented annually to a senior who possesses the intellect, motivation, and temperament to become an outstanding academic psychologist.
Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award is presented to the outstanding senior psychology major selected on the basis of academic performance, professional potential and general merit.
The Richard A. Lerman ’68 Memorial Award For Outstanding Academic Achievement was established with donations by his Chi Phi fraternity brothers, family and friends to recognize outstanding academic achievement of a junior or senior psychology major who has achieved honors status and who does not qualify for need-based financial aid.
The Garry A. Bahrich Memorial Award for Excellence in Research is presented to the student judged to have displayed the greatest proficiency in a research project during the given year.
Psi Chi Honor Society Award for Outstanding Department Citizenship is presented to the student who has contributed most to the betterment of the department and has exhibited outstanding leadership and achievement in curricular and co-curricular activities.
The department also hosts a chapter of Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology.
