About

Sean Brown is a part-time faculty member teaching courses in Social Change and Sport and Social Issues. He earned his Ph.D. in 2013 from Northeastern University and conducted post-doctoral work at the University of Chicago and Harvard. His doctoral research involved discovering and investigating adult social networks and social capital formation in Little League baseball and softball. This research was eventually published as a book for Taylor and Francis as part of their Sport and Global Society series (Youth Sport and Social Capital: Bleachers and Boardrooms). His postdoctoral work examined the role of social capital formation and attendance at Head Start organization on the east coast. Since the end of his postdoctoral work, he has spent a great deal of time teaching in community colleges in New Mexico, Virginia, and Ohio.

In his spare time, Dr. Brown likes to play tennis, read, listen to music, play with his greyhound, and watch an alarming amount of soccer, which he has recently started podcasting about.
