“Alternative Temporalities and Quantum Event Mapping” by Black Quantum Futurism Collective

Black Quantum Futurism Collective is an interdisciplinary collaboration between Camae Ayewa and Rasheedah Phillips. This workshop and discussion will explore linear time constructs in contrast to indigenous African and Afro-diasporic traditions of space, time, and the future. Participants will also explore alternative and Black-womanist temporalities embodied by cultural movements such as Afrofuturism, and DIY theories as black quantum futurism, and their use as practical tools for shaping past and future narratives in the context of their current lives and communities. Workshop participants will consider how to build future maps and quantum time capsules, shift cause and effect, and the interaction between timescapes and soundscapes.
