Dr. Goran Skosples is a Professor of Economics at Ohio Wesleyan University where his teaching focus includes macroeconomics, economic systems, and research methods. His research deals with institutional changes in post-communist countries with a particular emphasis on banking, firm finance and the role of government in society. He also believes that Economics is what economists do, and his research interests have spanned studying the impact of internet accesson employment during the COVID pandemic, the impact of solar farms on nearby property values, the effect of fatigue on soccer players following their participation in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the effect of the tuition sticker price and institutional financial aid on theshare of low-income students at small liberal arts colleges.
Goran is a dedicated teacher who encourages students to relate each lesson to current events to help them understand the underlying importance of government economic policies in their daily lives. He is a strong believer in the value of the liberal arts education and preparing students for the workforce of the future. In 2024 he was awarded the Bishop Herbert Welch Meritorious Teaching Award for his commitment to teaching and excellence in the classroom.
