Whether your interest is investment banking, financial planning, wealth management, private equity, or corporate finance, the Finance major prepares you. It focuses on core skills, such as critical thinking, presentation formats, and financial statement analysis, as well as foundational finance theory. You integrate practical cases on real companies with theoretical instruction in the classroom to develop a framework for problem solving that will serve you well as you transition from the classroom to internships to your desired career.

About the Major

The finance field is an integral part of the Department of Economics at Ohio Wesleyan, not isolated in a separate business school. The Finance major blends a strong core of economics courses with advanced coursework in finance. Your courses cover topics in corporate finance, investments, economics, and accounting.

The Finance major has been officially recognized by the CFA Institute, which awards this designation after verifying that at least 70 percent of the CFA Level I curriculum is covered in courses for the major. Top students interested in attaining their charter as a Chartered Financial Analyst may take the Level I exam in the spring of their senior year. Scholarships are available.
