The Dance minor grounds students not in just the study of physical practice, but also in thinking critically about the intersections of dance with cultural studies, movement theory, and history.

Music – Academic Minor
Requirements
Five units: one unit of theory (MUS 110 and 155, plus either MUS 156 or 165); MUS 105 or 109; one unit selected from upper-level history courses (MUS 347, 348, 349, 357, 358, or 359); and two more units chosen from among academic courses, applied study, ensembles. The declaration for a minor may be submitted upon completion of two units of music study. Courses taken credit/no entry may not be applied to the music minor.
For students taking applied lessons, lesson fees will be waived only for the semesters being applied to the minor (maximum total of 1 unit), and only for 100-level lessons. Students will be responsible for fees for any additional semesters of study. NOTE: Failure to complete the minor will result in all previously waived fees being charged to the student's account prior to graduation.

Music – Performance Minor
Requirements
Five units: six semesters of applied lessons (applied lesson fee waived) and a large ensemble (Choral Art Society, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, or Chamber Orchestra, depending on the applied area); one unit of music theory (MUS 155, plus either MUS 156 or 165); and one unit of elective music study.
Lesson fees are waived for 100-level lessons. Students electing the 200-level lessons will be charged 50% of the semester fee. NOTE: Failure to complete the minor will result in all previously waived fees being charged to the student's account prior to graduation.

Theatre Minor
Requirements
Five courses in Theatre and Dance, four of which must be in Theatre. Up to one unit of practicum courses may be applied to the minor. You are expected to be active in the department.
