Each year the Performing Arts Department recognizes outstanding achievement by students.
Robert A. Griffith Music Achievement Award
The Robert A. Griffith Music Achievement Award is given annually to the senior student who displays a great deal of competence in his/her music specialty, as well as initiative and leadership in musical activities.
Senior Performance Award
The Senior Performance Award is given annually to a senior student for demonstrated excellence in music as a performer. The winners are each given a certificate of recognition and a token cash award. The music faculty has the option of withholding any award in any given year.
Slocum Prize in Music
The Slocum Prize in Music is awarded annually to the member of the senior class who has attained the highest cumulative grade point average in the courses prescribed for graduation.
Pi Kappa Lambda
Pi Kappa Lambda is a national honorary society. An invitation to membership is based on outstanding scholarship, musical ability, and accomplishment.
Sam and Marion Gannis Academic Achievement Award
The Sam and Marion Gannis Academic Achievement Award is presented annually to a junior or senior with a declared music major who demonstrates outstanding scholarship and achievement.
Theatre & Dance Awards
Richard H. Williamson Wesleyan Player Award
The Richard H. Williamson Wesleyan Player Award is presented to the outstanding senior in recognition of all phases of their work on campus: academic record, artistic creation, and service to the department. A plaque hangs in the department with the names of all past recipients engraved, and the student is given a framed certificate, an appropriate book, and other gifts.
Crosby Service Award
The Crosby Service Award is given to an upper class student in recognition of significant service to the department and its programs. This is named in honor of Dr. Robert R. Crosby '39, longtime professor of theatre at OWU and former chairperson of the department, who retired in 1983.
James Scholarship Award
The James Scholarship Award is given in memory of Helen James '29, to a rising junior who has made significant contributions to the performances in the department.
Rodman Memorial Scholarship Award
The Rodman Memorial Scholarship Award is in memory of Glen Stuart Rodman '70 and is presented annually to a theatre student who is committed to the theatre program in the context of a liberal arts education.
The Latham Prize(s) are given annually to rising juniors who have demonstrated significant creativity in the department programs. This is a cash award, which is received as a gift certificate to the OWU Campus Store for the purchase of supplies to carry out their creative work.
Excellence in Performance, Production, and Dance awards
Excellence in Performance, Production, and Dance awards are made each spring to recognize the significant work of students and production groups from the current year.
Supporting Achievement and Newcomer awards
Supporting Achievement and Newcomer awards are made each spring to those students who fit the category and have done interesting and significant work in the department.
