The Dance minor grounds students not in just the study of physical practice, but also in thinking critically about the intersections of dance with cultural studies, movement theory, and history. In addition to providing a core for studying dance in its own right, the Dance minor can also serve as a foundation for a self-designed, interdisciplinary major that combines dance with other courses in the Performing Arts department and/or courses in other departments, such as Africana, Gender, & Identity Studies or Health & Human Kinetics.
Dance minors are expected to be involved each year in the department’s Fall concert, Orchesis. There are also other performance opportunities with student-led groups, most notably the annual production by Terpsicorps, the primary student dance organization.
