Marching Bishops Band
Become part of an OWU tradition open to all students! The Marching Bishops use a hybrid of corps and military style marching traditions featuring woodwinds, brass, percussion, and color guard. Our music style features rock, blues, hip hop, eclectic punk pop, and upbeat high energy tunes.
Park Avenue Jazz Ensemble
Park Avenue Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Larry Griffin, is comprised of students who wish to further their musical experience through jazz performance and study. The ensemble primarily functions as a big band with combos arranged from the band. The Park Avenue Jazz Ensemble rehearses 4-5 hours per week, performing on campus as well as for a number of off-campus events. Membership is open to all University students by audition.
Symphonic Wind Ensemble
The OWU Symphonic Wind Ensemble consists of students from all majors performing a wide range of artistically enriching music from both traditional and modern repertoire. We offer two concerts per semester and regularly rehearse MWF from 4:15-5:30 p.m. in Sanborn Hall.
Choral Art Society & Chamber Choir
The OWU Choral Art Society is a large ensemble of 45-70 singers open to all OWU students by audition, regardless of major. We perform a variety of sacred and secular choral literature, including choral/orchestral works. Choral Art Society sings regularly on campus and normally tours within the central Ohio area once a year.
The Chamber Choir is a select ensemble of 20-26 members performing repertoire from many styles, with special emphasis on Renaissance, Baroque and modern music.
Music Theater Workshop
Music Theater Workshop is an integral component of the vocal performance curriculum at OWU and provides operatic and musical theater experiences essential to all undergraduate voice majors. The class focuses on role preparation, acting technique, stage movement, and effective auditioning. Each year this select ensemble performs programs of scenes from opera, operetta, and musical theater, as well as occasionally mounting fully-staged productions with orchestra.
