Student Responsibilities

The DSC provides reasonable academic accommodations according to the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended, and follows the regulations of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Students with disabilities registered with the Disability Services Center (DSC) agree to:

  • Initiate contact with the DSC Coordinator to disclose disability, provide requested documentation, and complete an Intake Interview.
  • Complete an Accommodations Appointment with the Coordinator each semester I am enrolled and requesting academic accommodation. At this appointment I will receive the Reasonable Accommodation Plans which I am required to share with each of my professors as soon as possible, preferably no later than week 3, in order to receive my accommodations.
  • Arrange all testing accommodations with the applicable professor at least 2 business days prior to an exam/test and 5 business days prior to a midterm or final.
  • Make exam/test arrangements with my professor in their academic department or work with my professor to make arrangements to complete exams/tests in the UNIV Hall Testing Center during the following hours:
    • Monday and Wednesday – 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
    • Tuesday and Thursday - Noon - 5 p.m.
    • Friday – no appointments available
  • If taking an exam/test, to place my cell phone on “airplane mode” or “off” in the bin behind the DSC Proctor Desk for the duration of my exam/test, to ensure test integrity.
  • Check-in for appointments at UNIV 114 or CORN 316 on time. If I am 15 or more minutes late, I will likely be asked to re-schedule my appointment (i.e., meeting with the DSC Coordinator, taking exams/tests).
  • To take notes in class because it is my responsibility. I understand that I am responsible for attending every class session in order to take or receive notes.
  • Return the top/signed copy of the Reasonable Accommodation Plan (RAP) for each of my classes to either:
    • Sagan Academic Resource Center (ARC) (CORN 316)
    • DSC Coordinator email (ahluke@owu.edu)
    • DSC Office and Testing Center (UNIV 114)
  • Give my permission to the DSC Coordinator to discuss my accommodations with applicable OWU faculty members and staff, as is necessary. I have been educated on my role as well as the role of faculty members and staff in providing accommodations.
