The Sagan Academic Resource Center strives to help students reach their academic goals by empowering them with the skills needed to be independent and competent learners.
Academic Advising provides students with resources related to course pre-registration and choosing a major. Advisors meet one-on-one with their advisees to make sure they meet graduation and major requirements. In addition, advisors may direct students to Career Services or pre-professional program advisors so they can make adequate plans for post-graduation jobs or graduate school searches.
The Academic Skills Center is staffed by two interns who are senior psychology majors under the direction of Dr. Richard Leavy. They assist students in the areas of time management, note taking, study skills, stress management, and test taking skills.
The Disabilities Services Center promotes access and opportunities for students with disabilities through collaboration with the other Centers in the Sagan Academic Resource Center including the Office of Academic Advising, the Counseling Center, the faculty, Residential Life, and the Wellness Center.
The Quantitative Skills Center provides tutoring and assistance to both individuals and groups in any quantitative area of their studies, as well as GRE preparation. The Q-Center is staffed by professional tutors and peer tutors with advanced mathematics experience.
The Writing Center provides one-on-one tutoring and instruction by professional staff and two student interns. Besides working with students on writing skills and assignments across the curriculum, the staff works with students on resumes, cover letters, and personal statements for graduate and professional schools.
