We provide support for study skills, time management, and other academic issues.
Our professionals work individually with students to assess their strengths and weaknesses in such academic areas as time management, note taking, reading from texts, test-taking, and overcoming procrastination and anxiety.
Once focuses of concern have been established, the Academic Skills Coach will work with the student to set goals for improvement and suggests ways to accomplish those goals. Students typically monitor their behavior and then modify their work habits between sessions. Sessions are used to learn new strategies, discuss challenges for implementing them, and celebrate accomplishments.
Unless otherwise waived by the student, all information about academic skills sessions is held in strict confidence.
Our Academic Skills Coaches can provide information to groups on study-related topics such as: time management, goal setting, reading from texts, coping with finals, test anxiety, note-taking, and overcoming procrastination. We have given presentations to assist sports teams at study tables, small living units, sororities, fraternities, and residence hall floors.
