The University considers the prudent expenditure of funds to be an important responsibility and reflective of the University’s mission. The University views its purchasing decisions as opportunities to choose environmentally and socially preferable products and services, to support vendors with strong commitments to sustainability, to support the local economy, and to pursue the common good.
Procurement exists to drive best practices and achieve economies of scale in the procurement of goods and services necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the University and to ensure our suppliers are paid in a timely manner. The University is obligated only for materials or services purchased via a purchase order.
The purchasing office provides guidance on how to make purchases and use University buying tools such as Jaggaer, the University's e-procurement system. We recognize that each type of purchase is different. As a result, there are different methods of making purchases and different considerations to include in your buying decision. In addition, we offer department reviews and custom training sessions to enable savings and productivity across campus.
